Where the Roman road Ermine Street crosses the third-longest river in England, Huntingdon is a small but charming town with a Market Square dating back to the s. The National Trust owns this historic mill in very picturesque scenery on the River Great Ouse to the east of Huntingdon. Houghton Mill has roots going back to the 10th century, but the current building is from the s and was enlarged years later.
The mill stopped producing flour in the s and after being donated to the National Trust was used as a youth hostel for most of the 20th century. New millstones were installed in , and the stoneground flour is used for baking cakes and other treats at the Houghton Mill Tearoom. From Huntingdon, you can walk beside the Great Ouse to reach the mill, and from there you can follow the meandering course around to St Ives.
The museum for the Lord Protector is in part of the grammar school where he received his early education. This was adapted from the 12th-century Medieval Hospital of St John, and you can see the preserved Romanesque design in the bricked-up portal with archivolts and the row of five windows above.

Running an Event or Party
We realy enjoy visiting frankie and bennys the service is very good The food has always been constant and they will go out there way to making adjustments To your meal We really enjoy the staffs conversation ,, when there not to busy We sometimes visit twice in one day in between cinema Start off with starters,, main Then during the change over in the cinema times We return for a drink and pudding if we can manage to eat anymore Thanks for the consistent service. The place was fairly quiet with only a few tables in use, so we thought great should be quick.
Quick it was the service of the waiting staff was good, however what the bought to our table was a real disappointment. Firstly i had Double dip dough balls, these were all burnt, i mean not one of them didnt have a tell tale tinge of black, the dips that were rolled out with it were frankly a joke, the garlic dip in particular looked like dish water and tasted of it.
My wifes potato skins were equally as poor, tasteless were her words.

The road will open to traffic on Monday 9th December say Highways England. The new bypass will run between Ellington and Swavesey and is part of the project to upgrade 21 miles of the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon. It was announced last month that the bypass would open to traffic in December, a full year ahead of schedule but an exact date hadn’t been set. Now details of how the road layout will change and what drivers can expect on the new road have been revealed.
Like any new road, it will take some time for drivers to get used to driving on it, especially when the junctions have a new layout, and some have been renumbered. Please drive safely and enjoy the new road.
